Folding
Accordion Book
Chatham, MA
The
Chatham book closed and tied is 16" high and 10-1/2" wide I use an ultra fine point permanent black pen for the drawing and Acrylic Gouache for the paint. The light green background paper is by Canson and the cover is of handmade Indian paper over foam core to keep it strong, but light weight. I try to do all of the work on location, but I do take back-up photos of the over all and of details. I paint the background and foreground first and then paint as much of the house detail as I want. I let some of the green background show in the house as well as the trees. When it is folded in an accordion shape, the added perspective gives the feeling that you are walking along the street. It is a great way to have a big painting, but to store it in a small space. Click
